DISCOVERERS Ages 3 - 7 years

WEEK 1: Summer's Garden: Plant a small vegetable garden, tending to Mother Earth and her creatures among the garden. Craft: wet felting a small basket to carry gardening gloves, tools, etc.

WEEK 2: Butterflies and Bugs: Summer’s warmth gives so much time to observe and attempt to catch our beautiful flying and hopping insect friend. Craft: finger knit a butterfly net or help hammer together a small bug house to observe our critter friends more closely.

WEEK 3: Fairies, Knights and Dragons: Help to build your own "castle" in our sandbox, while whittling away at a knights sword to protect the woodland fairies that might venture in and out of the fairy houses. Activity: make a simple kite with a dragon's long tail of silk to soar into the heavens.

WEEK 4: Water, Worms & Wonder: What is summer without water play? Clear, clean water to splash in, muddy, dirty water to roll in, whatever you choose, it's all fun! activity: water color painting

WEEK 5: Nature's Child: Enjoy it, breathe it, revel in it but learn how to conserve it. We will explore the simple ways we can make our footprints less impact activity: creating something from nature to use in our daily lives as well as creating something to leave for nature and its inhabitants.

WEEK 6: Hoes, Hands and Harvest: See what abundance abounds after the warm sun has been kissing the blossoms for weeks!

EXPLORERS Ages 8 - 12 years

WEEK 1: Archery: Step into this ancient sport with the knowledge that you have whittled your own arrow. We will be guided to fashion our own bow and arrow while learning basic skills in archery. The fundamentals will include safety and proper shooting techniques on days that our specialist is at the camp. Other days will be to investigate how our native American settlers used these skills for survival and how they used the resources gathered from the land.

WEEK 2: Waldorf for a Week: Waldorf education has many elements of its curriculum that are truly unique to its method of education. With an emphasis on the arts and a reverence for nature, the summer is an ideal time to explore what our students are exposed to year round. You will experience watercolor painting, form drawing, handwork and woodworking projects, clay & beeswax modeling, music and cooperative games. Once a week the campers will go on a nature inspired field trip to enjoy all the elements of having fun in the sun.
