Deepening our Roots and Expanding our Reach

At the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School, our long-term goal is to help our students reach their full potential and be a force for good and light in the world. Our short-term goal is to raise $45,000 in our 2017-18 Annual Fund drive!

Help reach these goals with a tax-deductible donation to our Annual Fund.

In this year's Annual Fund campaign, we are “Deepening our Roots and Expanding our Reach.” Our community of teachers and staff, students and their families, alumni families, and friends strengthens and develops as new families join our lovely school and bring with them fresh ideas and inspiration. As we reflect on that for which we are grateful, Waldorf education and our school community are among the things we value most. We give thanks for our dedicated teachers and staff and we give thanks for you, the members of our community who keep the work of our school going with your support as volunteers, donors, promoters, and partners.

Our full tuition rate does not cover the cost of delivering our resource-intensive education because we want tuition to be affordable to the dedicated families who seek us out. When it comes to doing more with less, our teachers and staff are amazingly creative and determined. This year we are operating with an approximately $100,000 deficit, which means we've had to be extra resourceful. We must reach our Annual Fund goal. Please donate to the Annual Fund today.

Imbue thyself with the power of imagination. Have courage for the truth. Sharpen thy feeling for responsibility of soul. Our faculty and staff close their meetings with this verse from Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Waldorf education. These powerful words shed light on how Waldorf schools approach education. The means through which we teach—movement, art, recitation, stories, music, experiential discovery—might be used in various combinations in other schools. But the vision of the human being that animates our work is specific to Waldorf education. A “responsibility of soul” lives in us as Trustees of HVWS, as well. We are driven to grow deep fiscal roots that will allow our faculty and staff to provide this education with greater ease, supporting our students in their learning and development. We can only achieve this with your participation.

Our students grow into young people who are at home in their selves and in the world. They mature into adults who approach life with an open heart, who are confident in their own abilities and curious about the gifts of others, and who are not only capable of forming human connections, but are eager to do so. Please support them on this journey with a tax-deductible donation today.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We give gratitude for you. Thank you for being a part of HVWS,

Rose Witte, Annual Fund Co-Chair and Trustee
Jeff James, Development Committee Co-Chair and Trustee
Laura Stotz, Development Committee Co-Chair and President, Board of Trustees
