Thanksgiving Food Drive

In the spirit of giving, the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School's Third Grade class, led by class teacher Lark Bergwin-Anderson, initiated a new community service drive in conjunction with HVWS's annual Thanksgiving Assembly.

This year all Housatonic Valley Waldorf School students were encouraged to bring one item of nonperishable food (organic when possible) to school each day from November 12-27th. On the 27th, the day of the Thanksgiving Assembly, an annual event during which each grade presents selections of their classwork to parents and friends, the Third Grade gathered the donations together. The bountiful display enabled the children to see the accumulated results of their own small daily offerings.

The food was delivered to the Daily Bread Food Pantry, a free store in Danbury for families in need.

The children were thrilled to be a part of this new tradition!
