Come Visit!

There are many opportunities to experience HVWS. Make arrangements for a tour with our Enrollment Director, Therese Lederer, at 203-364-1113 x 102, participate in one of our visitor programs, or come visit us during one of our fairs or special events.  We’d love to show you around!

There are only three effective means of education: fear, ambition and love.
We abstain from the first and second.

Evening Open House: A Walk Through The Grades

November 18
Our experienced faculty will walk you through the rich Waldorf Curriculum, stopping at each classroom to see the display of student work. Alumni and parents will also be there to answer questions and offer insights from their experience.

December 3, March 21, May 19
Experience the rhythm of the morning as you explore the Early Childhood world with all your senses. You and your 3- to 6-year-old child can enjoy a sample Waldorf Early Childhood class: joyful play, beautiful watercolor painting, seasonal songs, creative movement, and a nutritious snack.

Puppet Shows

October 25 (Fall Fair), March 7, May 9
The puppet show in the Waldorf tradition features hand-sewn puppets, sumptuous plant-dyed silks, and a simple, age-appropriate performance style suited to young children's attention spans and level of awareness. A peaceful and enchanted mood prevails. Our Puppet Shows are appropriate for 3-8 year-olds.

Saturday Morning Open House: Mixed-age Early Childhood Program through Grade 8

February 28
The morning will begin with experienced faculty presenting highlights of the Waldorf philosophy; alumni and parents will be present for questions. The morning will continue with tours of both the early childhood and grades school campuses, a display of student work, a short puppet play for the young children and refreshments.

Windows Into Waldorf

October 1, March 3, March 31, April 28, May 12
Windows into Waldorf is a special visit to the grade-school classrooms while the classes are in progress. You’ll observe the Class Teacher presenting a main lesson, watch the students, see their work and get a feel for the rhythm and atmosphere of their day. A brief visit will allow you to better understand how a child grows through the grades. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss your observations and ask questions following the classroom visit. This is for parents only.
