Bundle Up: Fall Fair Outerwear Tag Sale

Are you the parent of a young child who spends a lot of time outside and outgrows outerwear as quickly as you buy it? We are collecting donations of outerwear, boots, and woolies to sell (at great prices!) at our table at the Fall Fair. If you have any pieces that are in a good condition, clean, and ready to sell, please bring them to the labelled box in the Rose Garden building or to Christina Dixcy in the Administration Cottage.

As with all School Store sales, proceeds will go toward the HVWS operating budget. Plan to visit our table at the fair to shop for outerwear for your growing kiddos as well as our Waldorf-inspired games, crafts, and household items. Feel free to e-mail if you have any questions: danielsnatasha@hotmail.com.

Bundle Up: Woolies Orders

Orders due October 23
Rainbow Garden, the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School store, will be placing an order for woolen clothing on Monday, October 23rd through Danish Woolen Delight (www.danishwool.com), a business that offers children’s and adults’ items made from biodynamic (DEMETER) wool. For this order, all customers will receive a 15% discount* (off of full priced items) and free shipping to the school. All proceeds go to HVWS’s operating budget.

Please visit Danish Woolen’s website to determine your child’s size and color. Then fill out an order sheet, and place your check and order (made out to HVWS) in Christina Dixcy’s mailbox located in the kitchen of the Admin Cottage, OR send in with your child’s school mail. With any questions email Christina Dixcy (cdixcy@waldorfct.org).

*PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to apply the 15% discount to socks. You may still purchase socks at full price as part of your order.

Fall Fair Help Needed

Volunteers
Please visit our Volunteer Sign-up Sheet. We hope a school-wide volunteer sheet will allow volunteers to better align their skill-sets with a preferred activity and make it easier for families with siblings to better manage their volunteer commitments. We realize we have many volunteer shifts! Please consider signing up for more than one shift. We encourage older grade school students to volunteer as well. Many of our students are expert jump rope makers, face painters, etc...

If we do not feel an activity is adequately staffed with volunteers by the morning of Wednesday, October 18, we will cancel that activity. Materials for these activities are being organized in advance. If you are uncertain about what will be required for a particular activity, please call 203-364-1113 x103.

Pocketman Crafts
Pocketman is among the most popular parts of our annual Fall Fair—he always sells out! Following our usual custom, we will ask each family to contribute 7-10 pocket-sized (small!) items that will be used to fill Pocketman’s pockets at the Fall Fair. These items should be inspired by nature, and can be hand-made (felted wool balls or critters, acorn babies, leaf fairies) or bought (polished stones, sea shells, crystals, etc…) Please keep in mind that Pocketman items sell for $1 ea. Watch your school mail folder for an envelope. OR join Natasha De Castro on Thursday mornings in the Star Meadow early childhood building for a weekly Handwork Group. For the months of September and October the Handwork Group will focus on crafting items for Pocketman.

Baked Goods
We need bakers! If you are able, please plan to bake and bring a baked item to sell in the food area—cookies, brownies, etc… Please bring “grab and go” items that you have already individually wrapped (items to be sold for $1) OR items that could be individually wrapped. Please do not send anything that requires refrigeration. Items can be dropped off at the Admin. Cottage on Friday the 20th or on Saturday morning.
