Annual Appeal

Dear HVWS Friends,

This year the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School is honored to celebrate 25 years in Connecticut! Thanks to the perseverance, contributions, vision, and generosity of so many, Waldorf education has taken firm root in Connecticut and is flourishing.

As those before us have contributed, it is now our turn to take on the responsibility of ensuring that HVWS continues to grow and provide “education for life” over the next 25 years. One important way to participate is supporting the HVWS Annual Appeal. Your tax deductible contribution is the key to providing:
  • A Growing Community
  • This past summer, growing needs and pride inspired the total renovation of our “Rose Garden” kindergarten facility on the Early Childhood campus. Our school’s six buildings and grounds require constant care and upkeep. As we grow, our vision calls for more resources and facilities to better-serve our students.
  • Excellence in the Arts and Academics
The beauty of Waldorf education lies in the way teaching and learning unfolds. HVWS' skilled teachers integrate the arts in every academic subject, from math and science, to language arts, music, movement, and oral presentation skills. This encourages the development of both creative intelligence and academic abilities. Today’s students need all of these attributes to move into a world that is yet uncharted, navigating their own course with confidence.
  • Inspired Lifelong Learning
Inspired teachers cultivate inspired students. Our dedicated HVWS faculty is committed to pursuing professional and personal growth opportunities by visiting other Waldorf schools and attending teaching workshops. These investments directly benefit our students who will pursue their own paths of lifelong learning.

Each year, we invite HVWS families, staff, alumni, and friends to give to our Annual Appeal. No matter the size of your donation, it matters. Your gift will be a model to our students of the responsibility we all have to give back. This year, our goal is to raise $50,000. With over 100 families currently enrolled and many more who are friends of HVWS, we know this is a reasonable goal. There are many ways to give—either in making one payment or in making installment payments:

  • donate via PayPal
  • contribute by mail with a check payable to HVWS
  • stop by the office to drop off your contribution
  • contact your employer regarding matching gifts
  • ask us about how your contribution can have an even greater impact on our school

HVWS is a non-profit 501c3 (Tax ID #061310057) and your contribution is 100% tax deductible! Please join us this year, our 25th, to ensure that HVWS thrives in Connecticut for another 25 years. We are so grateful for your continued support. Thank you for being part of our family.

Wishing you joy and health during the holiday season!

Sincerely,

Tom Storrier
On behalf of the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School Board of Trustees

Why is giving to HVWS important?

The purpose of the Housatonic Valley Waldorf® School, as with the original Waldorf School in Stuttgart, Germany is “to develop free human beings who, of themselves, are able to give purpose and direction to their lives.” Tomorrow’s problem-solvers need both tools to participate in a complex future and tools which will serve them personally—inner resources which will give a lifetime of contentment.

By original design, Waldorf schools are independent and therefore must be self-sustaining. Our many supporters give us much to be thankful for. Incredible community volunteers sustain many of our initiativesfrom participating in clean-up days to serving as Class Parents, PTA liaisons and Board of Trustees members, and assisting with fundraising campaigns. Yet neither valuable practical deeds nor tuition dollars alone can sustain us. We also depend on monetary donations, small and large, to keep our school healthy.

Here are some ways to support HVWS:

Annual Appeal

Your donation will fund programs, operations, special projects, and the tuition assistance fund. We make it easy to give. Just submit a credit card payment through our Annual Appeal page, or contact the office, 203-364-1113 or office@waldorfct.org to make a monthly pledge that will make your dollars go further.

Capital Campaign

Every few years we go through an exciting growth phase which requires the activation of all our resources to achieve a project’s success. In the past, incredibly dedicated and generous friends of HVWS have given to the Capital Campaign. When the call comes again, will you join us?

Spring Benefit

Our 2014 Spring Benefit was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who made it possible!
